My Week that was Captured #6

Welcome to another week people! This week I've got a Mum date at Costa in Penzance (wooh!) and on Friday I'm giving blood. Here's what I got up to last week:

We checked out Penzance after some seriously big waves hit it (74 feet high!)

I lit a candle for Matilda Mae like many, many others did.

We ate some seriously good chips for lunch which tasted good! Warmed us up a treat too!

I had an appointment at the hospital to sort this darn wisdom tooth. I'll have an appointment soon to get it out. I treated Mum to a hot chocolate out which she loved.

Jay and I made pasties for Saturday night. We ate with the children then watched a film for our weekly date night treat.

I bought Jay one of his favourite cakes as a small act of kindness

We visited some friends who gave me their money off coupons for Costa *happy dance!*

There may have been some very sleepy snuggles!

I also caught up on some more pen pal replies

Family Weekend

This weekend went so fast. We looked after my sister-in-laws children from Saturday morning until the afternoon so she could finally have her op to help her fully recover from breaking her leg. It was hectic of course, after all there is four of them and two of my own! Thankfully, because we now have a larger house we aren't all really cramped and they can all spread out.

The original plan was to have a duvet day due to the lack of sleep I've been banging on about. We got lucky on Friday night and had a fairly undisturbed sleep so that really helped. Besides, these kids did not want to do duvet day!

I had prepared some water beads the night before and they all loved this activity. I joined in with them so never took a photo, I'm fascinated by water beads! They ended up absolutely everywhere and they discovered squishing them with their toes was oh so much fun! Thankfully my nephews helped with the cleaning (the girls were noticeably missed hmm!)

I left the girls crafting while I took the boys and my youngest niece shopping. We fetched some paint for the girls and they were allowed a toy each too. Chocolate buttons were also on the menu. When we got home, the boys and Midge slipped into police gear and got role playing, while Little A had a nap. I had snuggles with my niece while my other niece went crazy with glitter paint. I have a lot of pictures 'drying' in my kitchen right now-they're still wet!

Eventually I relaxed with the girls on the sofa. Here's G giving me her gorgeous grin:

They ate me out of house and home but who cares? They pay me back in so many lovely ways *insert big, cheesy grin*

On Sunday we spent some time with my Dad as an early birthday surprise. As usual it was ace seeing my parents and great to see my brother before he leaves for Holland next week. My dad turns 52 this month so I baked him this rather nice banana chocolate chip cake with chocolate fudge icing:

I've had a wonderful weekend but I wish it wouldn't go so fast! I've got nothing planned for this week so we'll see what happens!

My Week that was Instagramed!

Sunday

Sunday was the Race for Life event in Truro.I walked the event with my Mum and my sister as usual and my Dad came along for some moral support which was a lovely surprise. It was a scorching hot day and if I said I enjoyed it I would be lying! I was hot, I had sun cream in my eyes which stung throughout the whole walk (obviously!) and it didn't feel like others were much up for it either! Still, it's the third one I've done and i'm pleased to of raised money for such a good cause.

Monday

It was a rubbish day on Monday so I bought this lovely Geranium plant to cheer me up. It's lovely and bright by my front door now.

Tuesday

I went out on my own on Tuesday afternoon. I grabbed the bus and headed to the local college where from there I had a short walk to the local leisure centre. I had a nice swim for just under an hour before heading to get a little something to eat. I also picked up some face paints for the summer holidays because they're so much fun to do.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we made our way to the local library for our weekly baby and toddler session. Little Man was the eldest again and there weren't as many people but it was still enjoyable. This week we brought along Little T to see what she thought of it all. As you can see she made herself right at home!

Thursday

I had a fairly chilled out Thursday not doing much. I had been to-ing and fro-ing about teacher gifts until I finally realised that really, it's not such a bad idea and one of her teachers is so nice that she at least deserves a little something. You can't do one and not the rest though so I put this together for less than ten pounds and they loved it!

Friday

Friday was the last day of school for Midge before the summer holidays. Here she is in the morning before shooting off for her final day of doing nothing but having fun (I guess!?) I also got my foot tattoo done in the afternoon. I adore having a foot tattoo but I won't have another one! 

So all in all a very good was had. I hope you had a good week too!

HAPPINESS

Happiness is a 5 year old Midge with a big chocolaty ice cream enjoying the sun and food festival on Saturday.

FAMILY

The men oF the family! Shame my brother wasn't there too really but here's my husband Jason, Little A and Pops.

FUZZY

My Dad bought me this lovely broach yesterday. It's really me, so pretty and delicate looking. I tried to fuzz the background with a photo editor so I'm hoping I can just about get away with it!

SPRING IN BLACK AND WHITE

It was definitely spring in the village yesterday. I walked to the end of the road and snapped this picture as I watched Little Miss play with her Auntie for a while. We really were blessed with such beautiful weather for the festival.

GATHERING OR PROVIDE

The local fish monger in the village provided the hungry visitors (like myself) with some delicious fish kebabs and bags of scallops. They were so, so good! What you can't see is the gathering behind me! There were so many people queuing I'm glad I got there quick!

Grabbing some fresh air after Midge's parent's evening. They both grabbed some twigs each and pretended to be Harry Potter on the way home. Sweet.

Weathered

I've dug this photo out of the archives because I love it. I would say it is a bit weathered from all the years being battered by the Cornish sea!

Ordinary

Nothing out of the ordinary for England. I love our big red phone boxes and would hate them to be painted another colour. In our town they have been painted black. Black! Speechless!

Word of the day

Today in the UK it's Mothering Sunday so of course today's word is 'Mum'. My Mum will be arriving shortly and we're all spending the day together as a family with my Grandma. 

Sharing

When I climbed Mount Snowdon these brownies were made especially for a fellow blogger and I. They were gluten free and absolutely delicious! There was certainly not a lot of sharing going on!

Wiggle

On the way home from Wales we were greeted by some escapee sheep. They certainly got their wiggle on when they realised we needed to drive by!

Before Your Birthday..

My Little Man,

Tomorrow you turn 2 years old. I have felt that these 2 years have plodded along quite nicely but then, all of a sudden here we are. You're fast asleep in the bedroom you share with your big sister, Midge (who you adore may I add!) Downstairs I have placed your new pop up tent in the front room with a present from Midge and a Thomas Tank Engine bean bag. It looks so cosy, I know you will love it!

From the minute I held you in my arms Little Man I knew we'd have such a special bond. Everything was so different when you arrived which meant we were able to bond quicker and easier than your sister and I. We're all super close now though which is a wonderful feeling!

You really are coming into your own now my Little Boy. You're cheeky and mischievous and hate to be left out. When your big sister has friends over you try and talk to them, play and join in their games despite having no idea what they're going on about! Unlike your sister it's a real challenge to get a good photo of you. You're not such a willing subject and Mummy has to be supper fast!

You can say a few words now you're paying attention a bit more. You say 'Mummy' and 'Daddy' (and Mumma) you can say your sister's name (which was your first word!) I get a few kisses here and there and plenty of hugs from you throughout the day. Daddy jokes that you're my little limpet.
Sometimes we still co-sleep (when Daddy lets us!) You and your blanket are almost permanently attached which is the sweetest thing ever and both you and Midge always get lovely comments about how well behaved and how close you seem.

I'm very proud to have you as my son Little Man and I cannot wait to continue to watch you grow.

Here is my beautiful twosome making some (very well timed) funny faces. Midge loves and cares for her brother like I never thought she would. I really was surprised how easily Little Man just slotted into our lives and how amazingly well Midge accepted him. This photo will never cease to make me giggle and is, perhaps obviously, my go to photo when the chips are down.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Candy

My pen pal sent me some lovely smelling candy love heart candles just before Valentines Day which was so lovely of her. The pink ones are obviously my favourite!

Pink or Red

This Tatty Bear was bought for me by my Husband exactly 6 years ago now! I love the red rose he holds and can't quite believe that despite being kept downstairs he's stayed in great condition!

Check Out My Makes!

Recently I blogged about Crafty Creatives. I get a box of surprise crafty items each month and it is honestly the highlight of whichever day it happens to arrive on! This months box is all Gothic themed in honor of Halloween (which i love) so I dived in on Friday evening and started making things!

First up was this masquerade mask. I followed the very clear instructions of laying clingfilm over the paper and covering the film with some white netting which was also supplied. Following the lines with my fabric paint was easy and soon it was all finished and ready to dry,

On Saturday evening I pulled all the tape off and tried peeling the clingfilm from the netting as instructed. This doesn't actually work very well (and I'm not the only one who this happened to!) so I just left it on and cut carefully around the mask. I made a hole either side of the mask and husband tied ribbon because I was struggling with my child sized head shape! 

With some finishing touches added (fabulous, super soft feathers also found in the craft box) I was ready to have my photo taken! I went with one silly and one 'not bad' pose:

As you can see from my photo I made several other items too. I really wanted to do something with the pretty resin roses so I thought I'd do the most simple thing and make myself a very bold, statement piece of jewelry  I peeled off the rose, chose the black blank ring and grabbed my super glue! It's all stuck on very well and suits my hand just right.

No matter what I do the rose always comes our blue. It is purple though
and just gorgeous!

My last craft was making myself a new necklace. I took the cabochon and placed one of my favourite images from the vintage papers supplied into the pendant. I then glued the top on which magnifies the image. It looks spooky. My husband asked me to take it off when we went to bed because it freaked him out! Personally I love it and I shall definitely be breaking it out for Halloween. I was going to use ribbon but found an old necklace (I collect ugly ones from charity stores so I can reuse the chains) and popped the cabochon onto the silver chain instead. What do you think?

 There are still a lot of things to make from this months kit but I just don't have the time right now. I'm still making things from last months kit as well! If you have subscribed to Crafty Creatives then i'd love to know what you think of my makes and what you plan to do with yours!

Baking and Football Fun

Saturday (unlike yesterday) was a very good day. I woke up in the right frame of mind and this helped get the day off to a great start. Husband gave me a little lay in after I sorted Little Man and Midge's breakfast while he cleaned his football boots so I got a bit of rest before being woken up by Midge and her new school song. (They're learning a song for their Harvest Festival assembly this Thursday.)

I decided to get my late morning off the ground by spending some time with Midge and baking some cookies. These cookies were so delicious and were gone within the hour (seriously, I think Husband only got half a cookie after I made the mistake of putting them on the kitchen table!)
Midge adores baking and is always asking to make cupcakes but at the moment I'm loving my cookies. We added chocolate chips and Halloween sprinkles to our cookie mix this time and have decided to make some more for our upcoming Halloween party!

At 12 0'clock on a Saturday, Husband always leaves for his football match. For the second week in a row the team were playing a home match so I thought I'd wrap us all up to go and surprise Daddy who had no idea we would be coming to watch him play.
The walk to the park where he plays football is actually quite a nice walk. We usually just walk into town or to school so going somewhere new (with a park) is always a nice thing to do. Midge took her scooter while Little Man played with a huge leaf which had fallen from a tree.

When we got there, both Midge and Little Man grabbed themselves one of the teams footballs and passed it to each other. Husband is very pleased they both seem to be showing an interest in the sport! Sadly, their team didn't win but we all had a nice day anyway.

I really enjoyed getting some fresh air and enjoyed watching Husband do something he really loves. We all need 'me time' after all. The children had fun running around, clapping and cheering and 'wowing' when Daddy kicked the ball 'sooo high!' and Midge would have a good laugh when a player would slip over in the mud. Several times she shouted, 'Mummy, that man has mud all up his backside!'

You've got to love them right? I hope everyone had a good weekend whatever you got up to!
