Our Week That Was: Captured 24/2015

Grab button for The Week That Was

After spending all weekend with two very tired children who had been coughing all the time, I decided Monday was to be a day off school and nursery. I made it clear it was to be a relaxing day therefore it meant we didn't get up to much other than watching TV, me doing chores and wrapping and posting my swap partners Advent swap gift.

On Tuesday Little A was back to nursery and he had a great day. Midge woke with belly ache (which turned out to not be as bad as she had made out) I had to go to town to do some boring jobs but we found a snowman to hang out with for a little while so obviously I took a photo of that! When we got home I knew hubby was picking up Little A so Midge and I got some food and watched the first Harry Potter film snuggled under our duvets.

On Wednesday I finally had a child free house during the day! I did a huge de-clutter in the house in preparation for Christmas decorations and the big day itself. I have 3 large bags to donate to charity and will need to do some dump runs one day soon! I also created some leafs with Little A before nursery today. If you follow Story of Mum then you'll know that this month has been all about leaving inspirational leaf notes around your local area. I had great fun making mine.

On Thursday I had to be super organised. I tidied the house in preparation for my Dads visit (it was his birthday) I baked a cake and cooked a roast. They arrived before the children went to bed which was nice, then we had an adult dinner before my little sister made a surprise entrance which my parents just loved. She came back from university for a week and I know they were both over the moon with her arrival as was I! We had such a wonderful night.

Friday was rather dismal. I woke feeling unwell and had to drag my backside to the school. Thankfully I perked up for the nursery run but I came home and did nothing all day! So no photos for Friday I'm afraid!

Now Saturday was set to be another boring day. The children bickered a fair bit and I was still down in the dumps (but at least not feeling poorly) we watched Toy Story 2 and I did a nice risotto for tea. When Hubby returned from football I had spontaneously decided to get the decs out so we spent the evening sorting through them. He popped out and bought a new tree which he put up minus the decs and we spent the rest of the night drinking hot chocolate and watching my Desperate Housewives dvds!

A nice big parcel ready to post for Advent// Midge made herself feel better with some Christmas crafting//On Tuesday we found a snowman in town// The family Advent calender I made

A warm cup of hot choclate for the school run and a Midge to push the buggy!// The sun was beautiful in the morning but we could hardly see to walk// The two leafs I made with Little A before nursery and which I left in town//Little A at the train station//Watching 'his' train come in

Dads birthday cake// Some happy mail from America// A rather yummy hot chocolate//A decorationless Christmas tree// My new read for the festive period and a yummy free from muffin!

I hope you all had a wonderful week too! We ended ours with a wonderful family day consisting of going out for breakfast, buying lots of new decorations and doing our tree. This week there is dentist appointments, a school fayre and plenty more planning for the Big Day to look forward to! (And hopefully i'll get to blog this week on time!)

Our Week That Was: Captured

The weeks are just flying by at the moment and it's hard for me to keep track of dates and all the little things that are popping up with school now such as costumes for plays, fund raising days, donations for non uniform days and other things like lantern parades and light switch ons!

On Monday we had wet walks to school but were all dressed for the weather and on the nursery little A and I shared a soya hot chocolate in my new mug. It was very warming and got us to nursery! We also had a meeting in the afternoon so hubby decided to do lunch at Wetherspoons before heading off to talk about A and how he's getting on. You can read about that here: Developmental Delay and Our Son.

On Tuesday it was absolutely pouring down and I missed the nursery gates by 1 minute. I was gutted! In the afternoon I looked over my new gifts from Kat who stayed recently and I started wrapping my next swap gifts for my new partner. I'm doing an Advent swap this time!

Wednesday was another miserable day. We almost missed the gates again but got lucky this time. A was shattered in the afternoon so we didn't do much in the evening just television and dinner before bed. I got my Advent Swap parcel in the post which is exciting, it's packed full of gifts for December! Little A made a Christmas canvas before nursery.

Thursday and Friday were really slow days. I didn't even take any photos! We're missing our train watching because they're doing work on the tracks and I'm not being very good with crafts and what not. I did make a load of Christmas cards though which cheered me up!

Saturday I wrote out said Christmas cards and midge made a Christmas canvas to go with her Brothers. In the late afternoon Grandma turned up. We ate dinner then took Midge out to see the town lights and Titan the robot, she wasn't keen on him but I enjoyed myself! We got some great photos and came home to do bedtime. Mum didn't leave until gone 10pm which is unheard of for her! We had hot chocolate and watched Gavin and Stacey before she left though, so a good weekend all in all.

Walking home from school 'reading' a library book// Sat at Wetherspoons waiting for Hubby I admired my new charity shop found pretty cards// My new mug keeping me warm on a rather cold school nursery run//  I did some Christmas shopping and fell in love with this set! I love ketchup and chips!

Very tired boy after nursery// Playing trains (his favourite game)// My parcel from my swap partner- exciting!// All non edible gifts from my beastie// Some presents are wrapped for my Advent Swap partner

Midge and I under the town Christmas tree// Crafting// Midge and Grandma under the tree// Big town Christmas tree (it looks beautiful)// Titan the robot switched the lights on again this year.

Next week I'll be hopefully feeling more Christmassy, it's my Dad's birthday and I'm hosting (cake baking alert!) and I think I'm being taken out for dinner at the weekend oh er! Have a lovely week!

Natures Decorations

I recently mentioned about going to my local Church for their Christmas fare. As Midge and Little Man were getting a bit tired and impatient waiting for Father Christmas, I decided a little walk around the grounds would be nice.

Of course I was right. On our way around we picked up leaves, some which still had a faint bit of colour to them and even some pine cones. I bagged everything up and took our finds home. When we got in, I placed the pine cones onto the heaters around the home so they could open up. You'll see how much the open if you check on them which is quite cool!

Next, I decided we should turn our pine cones into some lovely decorations for our Christmas tree. All you will need are a few, basic things:

* A few pine cones
* Some glue and brushes
* Lots of glitter in lovely, different colours
* Ribbon or thread for hanging your pretty decoration

Pop all your bits and pieces on a table on top of some newspaper so your glitter doesn't go completely everywhere (unless you want to be like my house and have a VERY sparkly lounge!) Simply cover your pine cones (not too thickly though) in glue and sprinkle the glitter over. We used our fingers to pinch glitter and sprinkle it on, we mixed glitter to get some wonderful colours and also rolled our pine cones through the glitter. So many ways and so much fun!

Finally, tie some ribbon or thread around the top of your pine cone and hang onto your lovely tree. Stand back, and smile!

To Do This Winter: Decorate The Tree

Hello readers, I am finally back to blogging after briefly loosing my Internet connection! I recently posted about out Winter Things To Do to round off a rather good year with my family. One of the first things we all wanted to do was decorate our Christmas tree!

Lovely, sparkly tree!
Adding more decorations

We gathered all our tinsel and baubles  fixed our tree together and checked the lights all worked before popping them on. After that was all sorted we cracked on with the fun! Midge and I decorated whilst Little Man just ran around with the baubles like a nutter. I'm really pleased with our tree this year and finally Little Man has become bored of trying to trash it!

Pleased as anything to be helping Mummy!

He's perfectly happy to just watch the
lights now

Tonight we made some glittery pine cones. We went to the Church fare at the weekend which was lovely. We weren't there for long because Little Man got pretty tired by the end of it. We did buy some cupcakes, a new teddy bear for Midge's growing collection and lit a candle for 'Super Nanny.'
We missed Father Christmas by 10 minutes because there wasn't much to do and I was struggling to entertain Little Man in the Church (he was getting pretty restless and just wanted to go out the door!) We ended up walking around the churchyard which was very relaxing actually. Half way around I found the pine cones and popped them on the heater as soon as I got home so they would dry out. Of course, I forgot about them so we only decorated them tonight. I'll post a picture soon.

The candle we lit in memory of
'Super Nanny'

Amongst the Christmas trees there was a prayer tree. I decided
to write a prayer for Kerry (MultipleMummy)
Little Man loves the church,
it's lovely
So happy with her new teddy and a Christmas
biscuit
I really hope you all had a great weekend. Looks like the bad weather is back in Cornwall, i'm glad to be tucked up under my quilt!

Christmas Is Coming!

I've not got everything sorted yet, there are a lot more decs to put up and I'm still allocating tinsel in my head. I really need the help of Other Half if I'm honest, I cannot get anything in these Cornish stone walls for the life of me but yet some how he can..must be his muscles (honest) I have none after all!

Anyway I have the tree up as I've already showed as part of a recent photo blog post (search for 'Scavenger Hunt' if you would like to see more.My linking skills have gone to pot this evening sorry!) I have made my mantle piece which is super ugly, pretty(ish) of which a photo is lurking around here too.
We have stockings pinned up along the stairs in the hall (yes, ALL of us! Santa still caters for us adults as well last time I looked!) I even have some paper chains up. Little Miss printed her Christmas stamps and I sellotaped and pinned the chain to the ceiling. It's not as nice and sparkly as I would have at this time of year but there is tinsel on the banisters and I'm sure I'll add a few other things to my hallway collection.

I also got my first Christmas card today from my Grandma and Grandpa with a little surprise in which was lovely and very generous. We intend to put said gift to good use and split it between our 2's saving accounts.
