First Nativity!

Midge had her very first Nativity last week and it was a huge success! I helped with the school walks to and from one of the local churches so got a few sneak previews of the great costumes the children were wearing.

The play was called 'Woopsie Daisy Angel' which was a mixed story of a clumsy and forgetful fairy and the birth of the baby Jesus. I first saw her perform with all her friends during the day just before Husband left for work which was great timing on the schools part! This is where our photos all came from as in the evening performance I had a rather wriggly and hyperactive Little Man on my lap. It was 6pm so he was very tired by this point.

Midge performed brilliantly next to her friends, it made me really proud. We bought her some pretty, sparkly wings and Husband attached some tinsel to the bottom of her bridesmaids dress which we kept as a dressing up dress after the celebration.

They sang songs, lots of running and clapping was done by all of he children. For a group of 4 and 5 year olds they did amazingly well.

To round off the night we entered the school raffle...And won! A nice big tin of biscuits for the little ones and Husband. They were very pleased.
I hope you all enjoyed watching your children perform during their plays this year,whatever they performed. I've read a lot of posts from very proud parents and grandparents alike which is so lovely. Here's to Christmas then!

To Do This Winter: Decorate The Tree

 Hello readers, I am finally back to blogging after briefly loosing my Internet connection! I recently posted about out Winter Things To Do to round off a rather good year with my family. One of the first things we all wanted to do was decorate our Christmas tree!

We gathered all our tinsel and baubles  fixed our tree together and checked the lights all worked before popping them on. After that was all sorted we cracked on with the fun! Midge and I decorated whilst Little Man just ran around with the baubles like a nutter. I'm really pleased with our tree this year and finally Little Man has become bored of trying to trash it!

Tonight we made some glittery pine cones. We went to the Church fare at the weekend which was lovely. We weren't there for long because Little Man got pretty tired by the end of it. We did buy some cupcakes, a new teddy bear for Midge's growing collection and lit a candle for 'Super Nanny.' 

We missed Father Christmas by 10 minutes because there wasn't much to do and I was struggling to entertain Little Man in the Church (he was getting pretty restless and just wanted to go out the door!) We ended up walking around the churchyard which was very relaxing actually. Half way around I found the pine cones and popped them on the heater as soon as I got home so they would dry out. Of course, I forgot about them so we only decorated them tonight. I'll post a picture soon.

Heartlands Fun and Church Fates!

In Cornwall there is a new heritage site which is already attracting so many people it's brilliant. Little Miss and I decided to head off on Sunday to join in some of the fun! As it was Sunday I knew the buses were far and few between and besides, the main theme for this summer holiday is to be as cheap as possible as with most families, we just don't have the pennies to spare right now!

So, we headed off, the walk was probably a couple of miles but we arrived in good time. After a 5km walk for Race For Life it seems a little walk to Heartlands from home was nothing for Little Miss! It was bloody hot though!

We had a brilliant day paddling by the Red River Cafe, dipping our feet in pool, getting some face painting done and playing in the park (the highest priority) we even took part in a scavenger hunt and Little Miss did colouring for the RSPB and I learnt some interesting things from the lady running the stall.

ourselves a break from the walk ahead!

 We also went to our local church fate at the weekend which was a lovely way to kick start the holidays. Little Miss won a couple of prizes, a small blue teddy (helped by the kind man on the 'stall') and a little pink pony (they let her swap! How kind!). Both of the children had fun on the bouncy castle which was all enclosed just in case the weather took a turn for the worst!

Thankfully it didn't rain at all. We toured the inside of the church which Little Miss loves doing. I explained for the hundredth time about how the wedding would take place and we allowed Little Man to walk about exploring everywhere! He loved hiding in the pews and quite enjoyed the large thrones!

It was a really lovely day, the sun shone the whole time and we had a brilliant family day out. Oh, and i even started the day with a rather scrummy cooked breakfast made just for me by The Man *big grin*

My Lovely November Weekend

I think I may have been a bit too involved in my memes of late and i've also had a few moments of 'well, what the hell do I write today?' They really suck, trapped brain waves pushing against that spongy wall to no avail...but they made it out, probably found a random gap where something of remote intelligence once lived!
On Saturday (after my lay in you understand) I decided me and Little Miss should just jump on a train and go to Truro. I took a little money, Little Miss grabbed her purse with £7.50 saved up (plus £2 generously donated by Nanny) and we were off. I got some lovely photos at the train station:

We arrived after a rather cramped journey on a small train and honestly could not believe the looks I received from one particuar student who decided all her stuff should take up 4 seats..When asked to move her portfolio so my 3 year could sit down you would have thought i'd asked her to get out and push the sodding train! 

Once we did arrive though Little Miss got very excited. We decided to hunt for some lunch first and sat down outside the Cathedral. It was cold but we ate fast so we could go inside to light some candles and have a look around. Little Miss loves these buildings and I'm so pleased because they are wonderful. She was full of questions and afterwards we popped into the shop to buy a postcard for me (as I collect them) and Little Miss found a feather pen, paid for it all by herself and has now decided she is exactly like Harry Potter, wand and all!

Everytime we go to Truro we light a candle for someone, it's coming up to a year already since my partner lost his Nan, my children's 'Super Nanny' so we lit 3 and donated some money into the boxes.

After this, we looked around some shops, mainly buying some Christmas bits from the good old £ Store, played in the Early Learning Center where we bought Little Man a Christmas gift which i'm sure will keep him amused for hours. It took a while to get Miss out of this store as you can imagine but the temptation of posting some letters for Mummy was too much so off we went!

Ahh I forgot to mention the little 'fair' we ran in to! We lost at 'find the giant ball hidden under the snowmen' but Miss got 2 Lollies for having a go, she was given a balloon by a rather nice lady who then proceeded to wrap this rather well made and perfectly fitting Princess crown around her head..Now, where she got the candy cane from i'm not so sure! Must have been given it when I wasn't looking!

Sunday

The day started off nice and peaceful until we heard the band marching down the road 'Of course!' I cried. I slipped on some trainers, Little Miss wanted to tag along too so I needed to shove a pair of jeans and a t-shirt on her (not realising just how bleeding cold it was going to be out there!)
We ran like mad to get to the end of town where I could get a picture of the band,army,navy you name it they were there and I wanted to capture them paying their respects.
We gathered at the local Church for our 2 minutes silence, speeches,laying of the wreaths. I didn't attend the ceremony simply because both Little Miss and I were thoroughly frozen by the time we had paid our respects. I got some lovely shots, loved seeing the gathered crowd come together, shed a few tears and had a brief conversation about why we were there with Little Miss who proceeded to say 'They are all angels in the sky now Mummy'. Bless and how right she is. I said it before and i'd say it again; I would freeze again and for longer to pay my respects to all those lost then and now (although I will put a coat on my daughter.) *Bad Cupcake Mum* 


Anyway i'm now looking forward to a rather nice (and long over due) catch up with a school friend I have not seen in over a year! Awful!
