My Week That Was ~ Week 38

Week 39 went from the daily chores to a trip to London with family to see Hogwarts in the Snow, I won't get another week like this for a long time! On Monday it was a long day of nothing much, then in the afternoon I collected the children and we went to a local restaurant to celebrate my sister in laws birthday. I had a really nice gammon, egg and chips which is one of my favourite meals. We went home late but full of food. The children enjoyed spending time together but it was good to settle in my bed at the end of the night!

Mr B and his niece T// Midge// Yummy dinner// Mummy and son moment

We had a lot of rain and wind for the school run this week and I'm very aware that it's just the beginning. Little A managed to give me a smile before setting off on Tuesday which always lifts my spirits in this damp weather. I put my name down for several upcoming school trips (one to see Santa and the local cinema/theatre and today's trip to the fire station.)

Big smiles// Happy mask making// Charity shop success

I made a start on the camel costume for Little A. They've made him a camel for the nativity play and given him a line, which should be interesting! On Thursday I dropped the children off then went and popped into town to look in the charity shops. I ended up with a nice big bag of bits, always good!

At the weekend we made our way up to London to see the studio tour. I took Midge with me last year to see the studios at Halloween and on this occasion we saw it all decorated for Christmas which was totally breath taking. We liked the new Hogwarts Express installation and it really is fantastic, I think it completes the tour. I thought it was good to see new props and I saw a few things I had missed when I came the first time. I took so many photos, as expected and even Midge had an old phone of mine so she could take photos from her perspective.

Car journey smiles (not for long!)// Overhead planes!// Beautiful lights in Watford// Huge meringues and lovely pasta dish in Capriccios

Not keen on the plants life!// Puking Pastels!// In front of Hogwarts// Off on the Express!

We stayed in a hotel in Watford, which was really nice and we met my sister and her boyfriend (who we haven't seen in months) at the hotel. We all went for dinner at Capriccios, I had a lovely gluten free pasta dish and huge meringues. It was nice to all meet up again even if it wasn't for very long, Christmas is around the corner. We headed back to my Mums late on Saturday and stayed over before heading back on Sunday to see the boys.

We had a great time and overall I had a good week. Hope you all did too.

Our Week That Was: Captured 1/12/2014

Hello! Another week another week that was with the lovely Hannah. Enjoy!

Monday was probably one of my best days this week and it was so refreshing to enjoy a Monday! Little A and I dropped Midge off at school then watched our usual 9:06 train at the station before heading into town. I decided not to bother with going home and stayed in town with Little A instead. We enjoyed a Costa together, then trotted off to the library before A announced he needed the loo and unfortunately the toilets there were still out of order meaning we had to go to the train station where we ended up staying for half an hour chatting and going through leaflets (nowhere else to go so close to nursery!) We watched the usual 12:02 train come in then went to nursery. I came home to do a few bits and bobs before returning for the afternoon pick up where both children had had a good day. By tea time things were getting their usual hectic so what a wonderful surprise it was to see hubby come through the door! He decided to come home early from work as his shoulder has been giving him grief (he works on factory lines) it was a lovely surprise! We ended the day with some paper chain making which was fun.

On Tuesday we did our usual morning routines, a little more wrapped up than usual because the temperature seemed to have really dropped! Hubby and I picked the children up early from school to head to the dentists- eek! Midge was brilliant as usual and this time her teeth were very good. Little A made us very proud by letting the dentist look at his teeth this time so they both got stickers. Hubby and I were not so lucky! I have a tiny cavity and need a big filing elsewhere as does Hubby- oh dear! New year gifts to us! We rounded the day off with a chip shop tea as a treat. I also got to see my sister before she went back to uni with my parents the next day.

Wednesday wasn't anything special but it was a relaxing day and those are good. Little A and I had a nice walk to nursery in the afternoon, he played about with leaves and we ate chocolate (naughty mum!) on the way home I had a rather rubbish anxiety moment in a store when they wouldn't take my vouchers which wasn't nice but I went home after sorting it out and tried pesto with pasta for the first time ever whilst watching the 2nd Harry Potter.

On Thursday I planned to head to Penzance after the nursery drop off but soon changed my mind when I picked up what I thought was my parcel from the sorting office..it wasn't, it was my husband's new shoes *sigh* I wasn't going to go around with them so went into the local shops instead. I got a call from Hubby asking if I wanted to meet him so we had a lovely lunch in Weatherspoons. It was so, so good and we both left to pick the children up together after having a drink and a chat. On the way home we popped to Tesco for some extra bits and Midge let me take a photo of herself in the Elf face which was rather funny.

Friday I received a prize in the post. It was a fantastic Paddington Bear haul from Love Reading. I was over the moon and so was Little A who opened it with me. Hubby had the day off and he went early to take Midge to school and do the food shopping. He also picked up Little A's carol concert outfit which I can't wait to see him in on Tuesday. On our way to nursery we spotted a very old-fashioned but lovely tractor which Little A had to have a photo taken next to. I also treated my nails to a bit of TLC with a lovely purple colour. Quite wintry I thought!

On Saturday I had a lovely lay in then took the children to town to collect a few bits. We then went on to the church to see a few of their Christmas trees and see what they had to offer in the market. I felt really uncomfortable there and couldn't wait to leave. Little A bought a toy and Midge bought a book before leaving. I liked the fair trade stall and bought two lovely angels that had been made in Bangladesh. After we left, both children wanted to walk around the graveyard and we saw some squirrels which was nice. We headed to Costa for hot chocolates and cake and I had my first ever Turkey wrap. I've not eaten Turkey in over 13 years and it was pretty nice in the wrap but I won't be craving it at Christmas dinner! We looked in some charity stores then headed off to watch hubbies football game (which he won!) Dinner was a lovely pesto pasta salad which I enjoyed very much. Hubby went out for the night so I snuggled down and watched my 3rd Harry Potter film.

Sunday saw us be super lazy and have a yummy roast dinner. We did the usual getting organised for school and watching our 4th Harry Potter! Love it. Next week will see Little A's nursery concert, parents evening, a church craft day and well, goodness knows what else! Have a lovely week!

Family Breakfast- A New Tradition

Last Sunday I hosted a nice little breakfast for my side of the family. We've been invited to my sister-in-law's house for Christmas Day which will be lovely because all the children will be together so there will be lots of laughter and toys! I thought it would be nice to start up a new tradition of coming together and having Christmas breakfast at mine.

I made the invites, posted them off and added a little optional theme to the celebration: 'Pyjamas encouraged' the insert read. I'm pleased to say everyone a part from Gran and brother Bill (who doesn't own pj's) came all dressed up and looking very festive! My Dad resembled Scrooge a bit I think!

Even my lovely husband dressed up when approached by me the day before with an early Christmas present: a onesie! A fox one at that!

I thought he looked great and he has actually worn it to bed twice! Not sure I should mention that but oh well!
We enjoyed a lovely breakfast feast of scrambled eggs, plum tomatoes, beans and toast. There was a large amount of bacon, both meat and vegetarian sausages, waffles, hash browns and some yummy fried mushrooms!

Everybody tucked into their meals whilst chatting about all sorts and catching up. When we were all suitably full I popped on The Polar Express which is my new favourite, festive film. It was hard for no one to nod off to be honest, being that we were all stuffed to the top of our bellies, in our pj's watching a film in the warm!

My aunt actually did nod off but sadly not long enough to catch a photo! I'm so pleased I went ahead with this idea and really hope it becomes a family tradition. In sure next year will be even better if I keep going with my crafting hobby!

Ill leave you now with a photo from Saturday of myself and my younger sister trying out Husbands onesie before passing it on:

Yeah, we're a pair of idiots but I think that's why we're loved?

Embracing The Rain!

So the weather has been pretty awful recently hasn't it? Several times I've walked home from school with Midge clutching my hand ever so tightly shouting, 'Mummy! I don't want to blow away!' Bless her, at point I was carrying her back home and she's not a small 4 year old!

As it's been pretty horrible here in Cornwall I've been donning my welly boots (which I love) on almost every school run for the past couple of weeks. If there is one thing that's going to send me blasting back to my childhood, acting like a total fruit loop in front of strangers and not gibing two hoots, it's going to be popping on welly boots and splashing in puddles! You know what's even more fun? Splashing in puddles with Midge!

We did stop our puddle jumping session for a small photo of our rather wet but warm feet though:

As long as you're safe and wrapped up warm, do go puddle jumping too!

Things To Do This Winter!

I've made a little list here of all the things I want to do with my children this December. As it's the 1st this week I thought I'd put it on the blog now as something to remind me.
Have you got anything planned for winter too?

Feel free to pin the image but please make sure it links to my page. Thanks!
