Goodbye October

My favourite month of the year has passed. I was born in October and grew up having the most wonderful fancy dress parties at my home so October holds real, wonderful childhood memories for me. Then there's Halloween which for me is harmless fun. We lit our Jack O Lantern and let people know we were Trick or Treater friendly! Everyone was polite. We even took Midge and A out with our niece who was doing a sleepover and they all loved it. I was so proud of their manners and they had so much fun!

I had a lovely day on my birthday with surprise flowers and thoughtful gifts from family, friends and even pen pals. Before the day arrived I was lucky enough to see the Harry Potter Studio Tour with Midge and my Mum. This was an early birthday gift and I loved it. It definitely makes October a memorable month now!

Of course I've loved, as I do every year, the joy of Autumn. The last colourful flowers, the gorgeous leaves, the nights in with a mug of soup and a duvet.

I will miss October but look forward to the next as always. In the mean time there are birthdays and Christmas to look forward to. Hope you had a happy October everyone!

Our Wet and Windy Weekend

Just to be totally British I am going to go and say 'have you seen this weather? Of course you have, it's bloody awful, absolutely whizzing it down out there and if Little Miss doesn't cling on for dear life she swears the wind will take her. Luckily we haven't HAD to venture out and if you have I feel for you I really do.

However, saying that I was terribly bored on Sunday, so bored I even contemplated taking Little Miss swimming which she quickly vetoed pointing out that it was in fact raining so much we could swim outside. When i said it would be warm in the pool she didn't buy it. Damn. Outsmarted again.

I later turned to Other Half and within 20 minutes we were all kitted up for our battle with the rain and wind. Little Miss and I headed out first to grab some seats at the restaurant with Other Half following closely behind. We didn't get too wet, Little Man was obviously the dry one out of the lot of us and I think he was rather smug about this, little monkey

I treated us all to a nice lunch which made a change as Other Half is usually the one parting with his cash on family days out. Of course I help out but he usually pays the bulk amount so it was nice to treat him as well. I had beans, eggs and chips, not healthy in the slightest but totally necessary on such a wet and miserable day.

Yummy!
Below is a photo of our view during lunch. Glorious isn't it!

Little Man is at this highly frustrating stage (for both him and me to be honest) where if it's on a spoon it isn't quite good enough. He will plunge his hands into my breakfast cereal, try to nick his sister's dinner and if you try to put a spoon near him he'll bat it away or try to feed himself! Needless to say we spread butter on his tea cakes and let him do the rest before he helped himself to one of Daddy's onion rings and then my fruit salad dessert!

Trying real onion rings for the first time.

Soo happy
Little Miss is not fun when it comes to food. She is one of the fussiest children I have ever come across and has been the same since she was 2. I'm of the opinion that Other Half is slightly food phobic to be honest and I think she's picked up some of his anxiety. Bean juice (as they call it) sends them into shocking fits of refusal (yes Other Half as well!)

Eating some ice cream for pudding after doing well with her dinner
Very unusual!
After all that the last thing to do was have a nice hot chocolate before heading back out into the weather. I love pictures of hot drinks, they just make me feel warm without even touching a drop!

We did in fact have a lovely day. We left at half 12 and didn't return home until after 4 by which time it was almost Little Man's bedtime. I'm glad I hadn't prepared a roast because I was pretty full as was Other Half after his burger and onion rings. I wasn't very well after all that though which is a shame to end the day like that. It wasn't a bug, more like a wake up call! I've been eating so much rubbish my body can no longer deal with it. Time to get serious with this healthy stuff.
Watch this space!

November Scavenger Hunt

Apologies for the lateness in posting but better late than never! I was super shattered yesterday and couldn't do anything but chill in front of my telly, sometimes even blogging goes out the window!

Thanks again to Kathy at Postcards from the P.P for another Scavenger Hunt, I only joined in October I think which is a shame but I only popped my blogging cherry in September so I have missed most of the year but enjoyed looking at other people's wonderful take on the photos.
Here's the list for November:
a lucky charm
a poppy
a self-portrait
comfort food
memorial
polka dots
silhouette
something purple
something that lights up
something you have made
staircase
warmth

A lucky charm:

This is my Nephew. Whenever he comes over now he is very keen to use my camera, I trust him so I let him go about taking pictures of anything that takes his fancy, I found this one tonight after his most recent camera adventures. He's my 'lucky charm' this boy simply because when Little Man cries, in comes Nephew to talk, sing, or to gently explain that his Mummy isn't going far. Little Man was screaming tonight when I left to get his food, Nephew sat and played the keyboard to him it was then I said 'O, you're my Lucky Charm..' Now I have one!

A Poppy

Taken at Truro Cathedral

A Self Portrait

It's not often you catch a good picture of me, but this was done with no mirrors, no hiding and no one else to bother with my moaning (sighs)

Comfort Food

I did take a rather tasty picture of a roast dinner but it seems to have been deleted...So I opted for my partners plate of yummy comfort food dessert selection instead: Apple Pie, Cake and a rather yummy Tart.
Memorial

This a memorial that stands in Truro city with the names of all those lost in war on a plaque. I love the statue, it's a shame I couldn't get a better photo of it but its sort of in the middle of a road!

Polka Dots

Mugs I found in the market place. I used Little Miss as a decoy so I could snap this just in case the stall owner thought I was up to something...No I just like the mugs, if I had the money I would have bought one!

Silhouette

The closest I came to a silhouette were these trees at the train station  in front of a bright shining sun!

Something Purple

My daughters school bag.

Something That Lights Up

I put my tree up on the 30th December this year and I'm so pleased i did, look how pretty it is! I laid some presents under it last night so now it's complete.

Something You Have Made

I had to make this ugly fireplace look nice for Christmas. I thought it was impossible...A few nice teddies later, some snow spray a star cookie cutter and my homemade centre piece completed with plenty of tinsel I am now happy with my new fireplace!

Staircase

The stairs at my house, be prepared to be decorated tonight!

Warmth

Lit in memory of people close to our hearts at Truro Cathedral earlier in the month. The warmth of their hearts, of their souls never truly left behind.
