Early Fathers Day Post

My Dad means the world to me. He's full of quick come backs, sarcasm, honesty and lots of good advice. He's more cuddly in his old age (shhhh) and laughs more which is nice. As I've grown up I've become closer to my Dad. I can see how, looking back, we were so, so alike that it made us just fight. We were both so stubborn, we never listened to what each other had to say and as most parents do, it ended with the parent being right and the teenager skulking off to brood angrily in her bedroom!

All that is in the past. We are much closer now. I can't think of being without my Dad, I honestly can't.  He's the man that taught me to read, that laughed when I cried through the fear of telling him I was pregnant (I thought he was going to kill me!) He taught me to whistle one evening when what he really wanted to do was have a long bath after working with horses all day!

Now he's into playing guitars, writing songs, tending to his garden, bike riding and studying with the Open University (he's 52- that's a pretty inspiring list of things to do!) He's sung me songs over Skype and is the only person who can cover a SnowPatrol song I like (seriously, I hate all covers of Chasing Cars I've ever heard) In short, he means the world to me.

Pinaddicts June!

Hello! Welcome to another Pinterest Challenge. I'm really disappointed that I haven't found any shadow boxes yet as I've pinned such a wonderful idea and even have a big, empty wall waiting for this Pinterest craft so if you have any ideas let me know!

On to Junes task! I decided to make my Pinaddicts June craft a Father's Day one. So, to come up with something my Dad would love. What better than chocolate?

These are called Candy Bouquets and here is how you make them!

Gather all your items together and start by wrapping some nice tissue paper and cellophane wrap around a cut piece of florist foam, this will hide the unsightly green colour!
One you've done that, start using strong tape (yes I soon realised my mini sellotape was not 'man' enough for the job) and secure your chocolates to the kebab sticks.
Insert each stick into the foam however you like until you feel it's perfect!
Add some finishing touches if you like, I added a nice blue ribbon I found in my craft box but you could do anything you like!

Easy! Not the best picture I'll give you that but it survived a buggy walk and 2 bus rides so I don't think it came out too bad! Needless to say Pop loved it and from what I hear, it didn't last too long!!

Yes...He is 'smelling' the chocolate...And maybe kissing it?
This week the lovely Kerry over at MyLoveBumps is hosting the Pinaddicts Challenge Linky so please link up over there and check out everybody else's! Don't forget to keep your eyes out for #Pinaddicts Tweets too! Now, what to make for July on top of service books and flowers for next months wedding!!

What We Did Today: Fathers Day

Today is Father's Day so I hope all you men out there have had a lovely day with your families.
The children woke Other Half up this morning with big grins- that's not unusual, they didn't even know that this Sunday was a bit more special than our usual Sundays!

We all got up together and I settled down with the children at the kitchen table to help Little Miss write her card out and wrap up Daddy's gift. I know this sounds terribly dis-organised, and I suppose it is but it added something nice to our morning instead of our usual television watching so I wasn't too bothered and Other Half was more than happy to catch up on the football matches he misses because of work.

Here's what we made together.

Daddy was very happy with his wallet and of course, how many don't love a giant chocolate bar? Little Man certainly doesn't miss a trick!

We also went for lunch today which was very much a spur of the moment thing. I never hold out much hope when eating out because of my 'special diet' but I was really, really surprised today and had a lovely meal. Most importantly Other Half had a nice meal and the children, for the most part, were really well behaved considering there was a 40 minute wait before our food arrived.

Because I'm a bit sad, I whipped out my iPhone and photographed my delicious dinner which I will be having again. So much better than egg, chips and salad! The Man had his beer as well so I think the day was perfect for him!

I hope everyone else has had a lovely day too.
