Trevaskis Farm in Cornwall

Hello all! We're on week 3 of our summer holiday here and so far it's going well (and fast!) Last week we made some trips to the beach and Lands End which I'll write about soon. We also visited Trevaskis Farm which is a farm very local to me that I love. They are all so friendly up there and you can stroll around seeing and stroking the animals, picking fruit and shopping in their farm shop. They love to educate children about the farm and about where our food comes from which is great.

We visited on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. First we had a nice walk around the farm seeing the sheep, cows, pigs and a cute little pony. We all chatted about our holiday so far and talked about the animals we saw (some people may have made jokes about each other when we visited the pig pen with lots of big mummy pigs snoring)

We then went around the farm to pick strawberries, oh my we picked a lot! I filled my box to the brim and enjoyed some 'taste testing' on the way round with my eldest nephew. We then met everyone else in their strawberry tunnel and realised we'd need to do something rather big and tasty with all our strawberries. When we got home though we were simply too tired and all left with our strawberry punnets still pretty full (I had strawberries for 3 days, fabulous!)

After the farm we did stop at Portreath beach for a drink outside and the children played happily on the sand for over an hour. They buried their feet, drew in the sand and made sand castles as best they could with no buckets and spades. If you're in Cornwall do visit Trevaskis Farm as its a really lovely place for all the family to enjoy and you can get plenty of fruit for such great value that's super fresh and delicious.

Just Being ~ A-Z Challenge

I have had such a lovely day. There was only one plan today and that was family lunch out, otherwise there were no other things to do, no expectations. Just relaxing. Just being.

I went to the charity shop alone and found two bargain books and a puzzle game for the children. We went to the beach, saw the boats in the harbour, visited several touristy shops and all before lunch (which was delicious!) After lunch, the children had a bath at Grandmas and watched a film or played in the garden before heading home to chill before bed. Just such a wonderful day being us. Just being the old Mumma.

Cheerful post!

I have a good few things to write about this week (and perhaps last week as I was too busy to blog!) I haven't joined in with Reasons To Be Cheerful for some time so I thought I would start again this week. I'm also linking up with You're not from Round Here to join in with What Has Made Me Happy. Enjoy!

First of all I'm very happy to be a newlywed! Myself and Husband had such a wonderful weekend, received lots of wonderful and generous gifts as well as collecting some brilliant memories. In the end it all went very fast and we both wish we could rewind the evening one last time!

Little Man had his first haircut. At first I was a bit shocked to see his little curls all gone but the neat, blond head of hair he now has makes him look a little more grown up and doesn't half remind me of my brother when he was a small boy!

I also visited St.Ives recently with my Mum and younger sister. It was such a wonderful day and I loved dipping in and out of crafty, hand made shops, eating a delicious lunch and visiting The Tate St.Ives Gallery.

I hope you've all had something to smile about too!

Olympic Party and Beach Day

Several things happened last week in the Cupcake Household. We held a little 'party' to celebrate the Olympics which was great fun. We bought a variety of food with a certain theme (see if you can guess) Hula Hoops, ring donuts, onion rings with a couple of extras such as strawberries dipped in chocolate, chocolate fingers and a yummy cake!

Aunt Issy popped over to join in. We decorated the kitchen, got out our flags from when we watched the torch pass through Breage and tuned in to BBC1 to watch some qualifying races. Little Miss totally got into the spirit watching Team GB rowing, it was great fun.

Little Miss and I had fun painting marzipan. It was a good opportunity to sit quietly and talk about the Olympics.

We made gold medals using salt dough, acrylic paint and some gold coloured ribbon all from the bargain store.

I made some party bags with little toys inside. We popped the medals in these just for the added fun factor. What party bag doesn't have bubbles in though? Here's Little Miss and Man playing together.

We also visited the beach last week which is the first time in a couple of years for us but the first beach trip for Little Man. We built sand castles, camped out in the tent during a 20 minute down pour and generally had a fun, chilled out time!

And building our little castles! We went on a hunt for pretty pebbles, feathers and small shells to complete our castles.

Good Morning World!

The sun isn't shining, I'm watching the 5000 episode of 'Ruby and Max' on Netflix, The Man has refused to move from the oh so warm and comfy confines of our bed and the baby has pooped. It stinks. I should change it. One second...

Well, that was gross...Anyway, despite all of the above I have woken up in a good mood. Sure my anxiety has reared its ugly head and I seem to be feeding off my nerves but I understand all I can do is wait. And pray perhaps, I do like a good chat with The Man upstairs.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend? Myself and the children hopped in the car with Mother to stay at hers for the night followed closely by The Man on his temperamental little bike. We went over to celebrate my brother's birthday, the big 2-1. He actually spent most of his time at his desk applying for jobs now his university spell has come to an end. I hope he gets one soon.

I ate too much rubbish, which I paid for last night by feeling pretty ill! The Man made a roast dinner which I polished off settling down with a nice hot chocolate and The IT Crowd (again) before bed.

It was nice to see everyone. The talk of our impending nuptials was the hot topic but I think about it so much I decided to let everyone else chat about their wedding outfits and what not while I poked my head in the fridge and started scoffing my vegan cheesecake.

I also went out and took some photos. I always want to do this as Mother lives in such a pretty little village which attracts a lot of tourists. Sadly it's filled with a lot of holiday homes which, because of the current UK weather are unoccupied. And we wonder why there are so many homeless people on our streets, Cornwall Holiday Lettings *cough*

I will leave you with some photos. I'm happy to say I got to go out alone which is rare but lovely. I'm still getting used to the odd look you get when walking around with a brick of a camera taking photos of the less obvious things like chains and seaweed!
