Michael O Mara Colouring Books { Review}

Recently I've got into adult colouring books. I tried those really over the top patterned ones and then those colouring for mindfulness books but I got so bored with so much detail to fill in. After a few weeks I bought a Harry Potter colouring book online and I've enjoyed colouring a page here and there. I think it's because it's harry potter and I'm a big fan. I did see on Twitter @OMaraBooks was looking for someone to review their animal themed colouring books, they looked so unique and fun I snapped up the chance.

You can enjoy Doodle a Poodle or Colour a Cat plus plenty more from their site MomBooks (Michael O Mara Books) all very affordable. My favourite is Doodle a Poodle because I like dogs and I love to doodle, especially if I'm waiting for tax credits to pick up the phone...

Colour a cat was a lot of fun to try too. Who knew there were so many cat varieties? I didn't, must live under a rock perhaps? I guess you could even say I got a bit of an education while I doodled? Below are some of the pages I had a go out. Loving my pug in particular.

I love the artwork in these books and can't wait to find some more time to just be by myself and relax with colouring and doodling. Do check out the website for more amazing books if you're into colouring.

Trevaskis Farm in Cornwall

Hello all! We're on week 3 of our summer holiday here and so far it's going well (and fast!) Last week we made some trips to the beach and Lands End which I'll write about soon. We also visited Trevaskis Farm which is a farm very local to me that I love. They are all so friendly up there and you can stroll around seeing and stroking the animals, picking fruit and shopping in their farm shop. They love to educate children about the farm and about where our food comes from which is great.

We visited on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. First we had a nice walk around the farm seeing the sheep, cows, pigs and a cute little pony. We all chatted about our holiday so far and talked about the animals we saw (some people may have made jokes about each other when we visited the pig pen with lots of big mummy pigs snoring)

We then went around the farm to pick strawberries, oh my we picked a lot! I filled my box to the brim and enjoyed some 'taste testing' on the way round with my eldest nephew. We then met everyone else in their strawberry tunnel and realised we'd need to do something rather big and tasty with all our strawberries. When we got home though we were simply too tired and all left with our strawberry punnets still pretty full (I had strawberries for 3 days, fabulous!)

After the farm we did stop at Portreath beach for a drink outside and the children played happily on the sand for over an hour. They buried their feet, drew in the sand and made sand castles as best they could with no buckets and spades. If you're in Cornwall do visit Trevaskis Farm as its a really lovely place for all the family to enjoy and you can get plenty of fruit for such great value that's super fresh and delicious.

Back From Our Jollies!

Yes we are back! We holidayed in Newquay at the beautiful Trevella Park near Crantock beach,Cornwall. I love a good stay-cation but what I love even more is staying in my beautiful home county and finding out what's on my doorstep.

First, a little about Trevella Park. I found it incredibly family friendly with kind and helpful staff and plenty of facilities. There is everything on site; from a swimming pool, games room,playground and park to an on-site shop, cafe and laundry facilities. Put it in the simplest of terms, you don't even have to leave the site to enjoy yourselves. The site does not have any bars, cheesy night do's or kids clubs making the park a wonderfully peaceful and ideal get away

We arrived in the late afternoon on Friday to find a clean and spacious caravan. I've never stayed in a static caravan before and forgot quite a few things so we headed to the on site shop as soon as we could! After that it was all about the pool until bedtime!

We woke up the next morning to one of the hottest weekends I think we'll have in July! We started with a family breakfast with 2 excited children looking forward to their Ranger Adventure with Wayne who works on site. Wayne introduced himself and we met another lovely couple before we set off for just over an hour of nature fun! The Ranger Adventures is a new addition to Trevella Park offering your little ones a chance to get up close and personal with the bugs and small creatures of the park's beautiful surroundings.

Here is Wayne showing the children a vole. None of the animals are harmed at all when they are trapped hunting for food and Wayne knows exactly what he's doing. The children loved seeing such a small creature up close and with more luck, next time we'll see more!

We ended the trail with leaf rubbings, looking through magnified tubs at mini beasts and ticking off all the creatures,leaves and plants we'd found along the way.

The Ranger Adventures will also include pond dipping, fishing, den building and much more for various ages (and adults! I had great fun!) Sessions start from the end of July so do ask at the reception when you arrive!

We spent Sunday relaxing on site, enjoying the heated pool which was amazingly refreshing, venturing into Newquay town where we visited a handmade market and found a mini carnival! Midge played on the bouncy castle and we sat overlooking some gorgeous views from the cliffs.

We also got to meet Ollie the Owl who lives on site very happily watching the world go by. We were extremely lucky to be offered to see him be fed and for that I am very grateful because the children adored him!

On Monday we enjoyed Newquay Zoo! (Yes we loved the park so much we paid to stay an extra night!) Called Cornwall's largest zoo, it is packed with birds, otters, meerkats and of course your monkeys and lions. The zoo is not a large zoo when compared to other zoos in the country so do bare that in mind when visiting or you'll feel disappointed like a few people I spoke to. We however had a lovely time and enjoyed the fact that the trails weren't too long and the park wasn't so big we missed anything.

Some very old bird cages from all over the world were showcased in the tropical sanctuary . Here, we saw a variety of beautiful looking birds, snakes and other colourful reptiles. Oh yes, we mustn't forget the bats! (Little A liked those!)

I think it's fair to say that we enjoyed our little get away and had a lovely stay. I can honestly recommend this park and we can't wait to go back next year!

Back From Holiday and Cheerful!

Hello! I am back from our 5 day break to Cambridge with family and feeling very good indeed! I'm missing the countryside a little but am grateful for the town today as I have had some success with my charity shop scavenger hunting. There is such a thing as being too far out in the sticks after all!

1) We had a fabulous holiday, so it seems fitting to have this as my number one reason to be cheerful this week. We got back in the early evening of Wednesday and have been all go today. It was so wonderful to see my family,who I miss so very much already. I loved being surrounded by green, green and more green! There were birds to listen to in the morning, owls to hear at night. The caravan was comfy after day 3 (when my parents vacated the larger one!) and the children had an absolute wonder of a time!

2) We have a new addition to the Cupcake House! Meet Missy, our lovely kitten. She's very playful and
always up to no good so her original name 'Petal' was quickly thrown out in favour of a more fitting name for her! I am in love already...she doesn't know her jabs are due next week and that she's on the list to be 'done' as soon as she's ready and I'm sure once she finds out she won't be loving me so much for a while!

3) My Little A is talking more and more since he has come back from holiday and Midge has gained confidence with animals since being surrounded by them for days on end. She used to be really frightened of dogs, but since the holiday she has been a lot calmer around them and so have I come to think of it.

So, short but sweet (I like to think!) I've come back wanting to get started on my garden, to sort the children's bedroom so it is finally a perfect place for them to relax and rest. I also have plans to freshen up the rest of the house, start some homemade gifts to maybe sell in the future and get started on at least 2 Holistic Therapy courses. Phew!

What Has Made Me Happy Week 2

First of all I received a rather lovely surprise this afternoon when the postman arrived. I waited all day for my quiet time (read, time when I'm alone and the children are asleep) so I could take my time and really appreciate this homemade box of loveliness made for me as part of a summer gift swap. I'm not telling you what's inside, you'll have to wait for my next post!

Another lovely surprise from the postman this week was my rather awesome new(ish) pink converses which I LOVE and I have wanted for an incredibly long time. I absolutely love them and what's even better is they cost me just £23.50 from eBay and have been hardly worn!

I was feeling a bit down yesterday and went out with Midge to buy her uniform. While I was sat waiting for Midge to finish her sausage roll before entering the store I was befriended by a rather lovely little dog. They really do know how to cheer you up don't they?

It's nearly September which means I'm jumping ahead and looking forward to October because it is my birthday (yey!) I love birthdays but i'm also excited because this year I want to have a little Halloween party for the children. Fingers crossed everyone's free!
