The Quick Weekend!

Our weekend started on Friday with Sports Day being held at Midges school. We met up with Jason's two sisters and had such a good time. Despite the fact it rained all day the children had a lot of fun and because there were so many of us none of our lot did an event without some moral support. I ran the track race with Midge which she thought was great fun and both my niece and nephew won golds! Yey! Here are two of my favourite photos from the day, one taken by my sister-in-law and one taken by me of my niece who spent most of the day in a world of her own (just not when coming first in shot put!)

'Best Cousins'

On Saturday morning we met up again at our local Wetherspoons for some breakfast. It must seem like we visit this restaurant all the time but it's just a coincidence! We had lovely big breakfasts and the children had a table all to themselves which meant us adults had relative peace to eat our meals which is always a bonus. I took this wonderful photo of my eldest nephew and youngest niece:

After breakfast I headed home with Midge and Little A. We all managed to grab a little nap because the night before was a bit of a no go sleep wise. Hubby left for his football game at 1pm so we waited a couple of hours for the 3pm kick off and wrapped up warm for some football fun. Despite the rain we had a lovely time watching 'Captain Daddy' and the children enjoyed the small children's park at the same time.

Midge looks ridiculously big in this photo but the bigger swings have been made really high! It was nice for me to able to watch Hubby and look after the children at the same time because this park is so small. Shame about the dog poop though! The children escaped it but my lovely pink converses didn't!!

Sunday was spent mostly relaxing and doing little. I did a bit of a housework and we did our food shop which was crazy for a Sunday. Hubby cooked us a lovely dinner which we enjoyed over the shouts and protests of two little ones refusing to sleep!

This weekend we're headed to Trevella Park in Newquay for a review which we are all super excited about. Hope you've had a great weekend and do tell me what plans you have for this week!

A-Z Challenge: F

F is for: Football, Fun and Family!

I'll be honest. Two of those 'F's' are my loves but the first one definitely is more to do with my Husband and children! Every Saturday is football day for the Husband and boy does he love it. He'll prepare his kit when he gets home late from work, he'll grab spares for his team mates and generally act like a small kid. The reason he gets so excited is because football is his 'me time' and we all need that don't we?

As he leaves early I tend to just sort the house out and get the children ready. I won't watch him play if it's really raining but on a nice day it's a really good activity to do with Midge and Little A. They both love watching Daddy in goal (and he is good so of course I'm very proud!) they love playing with the spare footballs the team leave laying around and the best thing is, when they're bored of watching Dad play they can go to the park instead!

Usually when the game is over we manage to have some family time before it's bath and bed for the Little Ones and dinner prep for us! As we live in Cornwall a good Cornish pasty is never far away and both Daddy and Little A are fond of them. If Dad forgets to share though this is what happens:

Because my Husband works late and often there's school we don't get much family time during the week. Like most families we try and aim for some quality fun time at the weekends and football is one way of getting this time together to have fun and relax.

The best thing about weekends though is that Husband doesn't work at all. I really love this because it means I'm not alone to do the bedtime stories and Midge can chat about her day with both of us and not just me. Bedtime is usually pretty stressful in this household no matter what we do but there is 10 minutes or so of total peace and calm before the laughing and messing around starts. With those 10 minutes we just lay there reading a bedtime story and doing this:

Baking and Football Fun

Saturday (unlike yesterday) was a very good day. I woke up in the right frame of mind and this helped get the day off to a great start. Husband gave me a little lay in after I sorted Little Man and Midge's breakfast while he cleaned his football boots so I got a bit of rest before being woken up by Midge and her new school song. (They're learning a song for their Harvest Festival assembly this Thursday.)

I decided to get my late morning off the ground by spending some time with Midge and baking some cookies. These cookies were so delicious and were gone within the hour (seriously, I think Husband only got half a cookie after I made the mistake of putting them on the kitchen table!)
Midge adores baking and is always asking to make cupcakes but at the moment I'm loving my cookies. We added chocolate chips and Halloween sprinkles to our cookie mix this time and have decided to make some more for our upcoming Halloween party!

At 12 0'clock on a Saturday, Husband always leaves for his football match. For the second week in a row the team were playing a home match so I thought I'd wrap us all up to go and surprise Daddy who had no idea we would be coming to watch him play.
The walk to the park where he plays football is actually quite a nice walk. We usually just walk into town or to school so going somewhere new (with a park) is always a nice thing to do. Midge took her scooter while Little Man played with a huge leaf which had fallen from a tree.

When we got there, both Midge and Little Man grabbed themselves one of the teams footballs and passed it to each other. Husband is very pleased they both seem to be showing an interest in the sport! Sadly, their team didn't win but we all had a nice day anyway.

I really enjoyed getting some fresh air and enjoyed watching Husband do something he really loves. We all need 'me time' after all. The children had fun running around, clapping and cheering and 'wowing' when Daddy kicked the ball 'sooo high!' and Midge would have a good laugh when a player would slip over in the mud. Several times she shouted, 'Mummy, that man has mud all up his backside!'

You've got to love them right? I hope everyone had a good weekend whatever you got up to!
