Its Our 2 Year Wedding Anniversary!

The last time I wrote, Martyn and I had just celebrated our wedding day. It was a wonderful day, a small celebration with those we love the most.

Black and white photo of Martyn in his wedding suit with glasses in his wheelchair and hannah wesring a white wedding dressnwith Marvel hem sitting on his lap laughing.

As you can imagine, a lot has happened in those 2 years. Martyn has studied and completed his Theology, Ministry and Mission courses at college and has done really well in his stage 1 ordination process. He is still on this journey, a few minor detours are being taken but he will get there.

Our children have kept us busy as always. School, college, clubs, assessments, and all the normal teenage stuff thrown in for good measure.

We celebrated our first anniversary by an exchange of paper themed gifts. We have both decided to go with the themes for each year to see what we come up with!

Last year, Martyn made me a lovely notebook with origami roses on the front and origami swans on the inside first page. He even made them in our blog colours which, despite neither of us blogging for quite some time, we still go by! Pink and blue goes very well together.

This year, our cotton year, he has out done himself by using an old polo shirt of his and some fabric paints to create a really sweet, fun painting of us as cotton balls. I love it!

A white shirt background with 2 hand drawn circles depicted as cottonballs. Left is a ball in a wheelchair with a bobble hat and right is a ball with a flower on the head. Both balls are smiling and holding hands. 2 years is written in pink at the top and the date 20.04.26 is on the bottom in blue. A blue love heart is above the left ball and pink heart above the right with a red heart in the middle.

The idea is that I can cut it how I like and create from the shirt what I feel is best. I will probably make it in to a cushion as I have stuffing from an old project. Martyn likes to do things that I can count towards my Rebel Badge escapades. I'm currently doing a designer badge and this might fit in with something from the prompt list.

I didn't make anything this year. Last year I used my craft supplies to make a card which I enjoyed doing. This year I couldn't think of anything to make but I knew he needed some new handkerchiefs so I bought him some colourful cotton ones. I probably could've made some in hindsight but without borrowing sewing machines and fetching fabric from the thrift store I wouldn't have been able to and, as usual, I left things too late..oops.

We plan to watch a Carry on Film in the evening and have treated ourselves to a take away curry for dinner; just us two for a change and not the whole house.

Here is to our leather anniversary next year..Best get my thinking cap on!

  1. Happy Wedding Anniversary! I love that you stick to the traditional themes, it's something my husband and I have never done but I wish we had, although he's not crafty at all so he wouldn't play along with me!

    1. Thank you! I think we both decided it would be fun, there was never any discussion on being crafty or buying things thankfully because I would have failed quite badly at that!
